Oh! And last night we went to see Mean Girls with Kathleen. Mean Girls was pretty good, but I would’ve enjoyed it more if it’d had more funny bits at the end, instead of serious “we-all-like-each-other-now, everyone’s-hooking-up” crap. But it had some seriously funny parts. And the trailer for Dodgeball had my name written all over it. Afterwards, we drove around for a while looking for an open Taco Bell, to no avail. (Hee!) We ended up getting some Yves lasagna (mmmmmm) from the grocery store instead.

Andrew W. K. was awesome! Wish I could say the same for the two opening bands. But Andrew W. K. rocked. It was pretty crazy. There was this one guy who was a pretty bad dancer. After A.W.K., we went to Wafflehouse, and then to the Jackpot – and the bad dancer guy was there, too! Trying to rock out to whatever the dj was spinning (I don’t usually pay attention to these things), and trying to get people to dance with him. One lady laughed in his face, though, and I thought that was inexcusably rude. But he just wasn’t phased, and kept on having a good time by himself. I have to give him points for that.

Anyway. So I knit this ribbed hat out of some rainbow Red Heart I’ve got lying around, and then I knit a scarf to go with it. Only I didn’t want to knit a ribbed scarf, so I knit it in seed stitch, and put a little keyhole at one end for snug-tying-ness. Then I decided I ought to knit a really matching hat, in seed stitch, especially since the ribbed hat was a little on the short side. So I winged it, as far as patterns go – I based it loosely on the Hothead pattern, since the yarn was close to that gauge. Anyway, I just finished it, and it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Last night I finished up another hat before we went to see Kudzu Wish and Amish Jihad. It’s a little on the short side, but it’s cute. We also saw this awesome glammy band, Thunderlips. And we caught the tail end of Eyes to Space’s set. Wendy is incredible on the keyboard.

I’m knitting a matching scarf to go with the hat, and just saw part of a very strange movie on SciFi, called Deathlands. Very weird. Parts of it reminded me of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and parts of it reminded me of a softcore Dune. Weird. I’m afraid I didn’t catch enough to really understand what was happening.

Tonight, Andrew W. K.!

Last night I put Daoine’s shoebox on my lap, and put her in it, and she actually curled up and stayed there for about an hour (at which point I left to go to Flicker). And she even let me cuddle her, so long as she was in her box. I’m such a sucker for her when she’s sweet. Flicker was pretty good. Lance’s film, “A Conscious Decision,” was excellent, as were “Good Things Come…,” “420,000 Blows,” and “Booth 86.” Afterwards we went to Lance and Angelique’s house, and ate Tofutti fudge pops. Yum!

And the latest Interweave Knits showed up yesterday. As usual, there were quite a few things I want to make, like the Victoria Tank or the Gibson Girl sweater. Le soupir.

I never really feel any older or different from year to year, but two nights ago I read through some of my old diaries, and even though I haven’t noticed it, I’ve changed. I’m definitely older, and hopefully a little wiser, too. And I had some laughs at old dramas.

We move in two weeks and I can hardly wait! In one weekend we’ll be signing the lease, throwing a moving-out party, beginning to move, and going to see Bad Blood! Good times. But this weekend’s pretty exciting, too. Tonight I get to see Kudzu Wish at Go! and Eyes to Space at the Nightlight, and then tomorrow we’re going to see Andrew W. K. Yeehaw!

I’m probably going to bed early tonight. Because I’m a little old lady. All I need now is a walker, for real, or a cane. Ooooh! A cane, and then I can swat “whippersnappers” with it, for annoying me. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

(excerpted from an email to a friend. but i knit, i crochet, i have a cat, i’m frequently crotchetty, and i have a predilection for going to bed early.)

SO busy lately! But I managed to find time this weekend, in between quite a bit of work, to knit a very small hat. Child-sized.

We just had three deer walking around in our front yard. Cute.

This weekend I’ve been a little too busy to knit. My mom came to visit yesterday, so I could give her her birthday and mother’s day presents, and take her out to lunch. We also saw Van Helsing, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And then last night we hung out with Danny, Michel, and Allison. Danny made pad thai, and Allison made a strawberry pie – and it was excellent. Today, Greg’s mom is coming to visit, and then tonight we’re going to watch WWE’s Judgment Day. Whee!

But I’m working a little on my feathers and fans scarf in the meantime.

It’s been a busy week, and I’ve mainly been unwinding by reading Martin’s Storm of Swords. I’m going to pick up some knitting tonight, though, while I watch Smackdown.

Oooh. And last night I reupholstered my la-z-boy to protect it from Daoine. It’s cute and comfy, and kind of matches the other recliner, and the couch. In that they’re all blue.
