Please to note the new “Contact Me!” button. Thanks to Jenn, for not only suggesting it, but providing me with the code for it, so that my non-web-savvy, lazy ass could put it up with ease!
Hee.
Actually, that “5 important songs” question is kinda crappy. Because, really, there are lots more songs I’d add to that list. Maybe I’ll just make a long list and put it on the sidebar for myself, so I don’t feel like I’m dissing any songs that are important to me. Hm. Indeed.
1 – total amount of music files on your computer:
809.97 MB, or 204 files. I just got a new-ish computer, though, and have only ripped 18 cds to my computer. I still have a ways to go.
2 – the last cd you bought was:
The Distillers’ Coral Fang, about a year ago. No, really, I haven’t bought a cd in ages, which is kind of sad when I think about it, especially since I keep a running list of what I should add to my collection. However, Greg did give me Tori Amos’s Tales of a Librarian and Boys for Pele for Christmas.
3 – what is the last song you listened to before reading this message:
“Bliss” by Tori Amos on Tales of a Librarian.
4 – 5 songs you listen to often or that mean a lot to you:
This is tough. Hm. In no particular order, because they are all equally dear to me:
“Chambermaid” by Emilie Autumn
“Ask” by the Smiths
“Dwelling” by Rose Chronicles
“Beat Yr Heart Out” by the Distillers
“Demons Are Raping My Face” by the Xtreme Badasses
5 – who are you passing this on to and why:
Crappity crap crap. None of my “real-life” friends blog (that I know of), or I’d try to make them do it. So, whoever reads this, hasn’t done it yet, and feels like doing it, consider yourself tagged.
Oh, and also, Jenn from NipperKnits tagged me for that music meme that’s been going around. I’m totally going to do it, I just need some time to figure out my answers.
I finished the chemo caps, and they turned out very nice, if I do say so myself. I’ll post pictures later tonight. And I’ve still got some Allure and some Velvetspun left over. I’ve been feeling generally crappy lately – I’ve got a nasty cold, or perhaps laryngitis – and I’ve been sleeping with a scarf on. I think Maya suggested sleeping with a scarf on – I don’t know if it *really* works or if I just *think* it works, but I do feel better. And my neck is also sore, and the scarf is cushy and just makes me feel less poo. So anyway, I’m thinking about making a goiter out of the Allure, so I don’t have to worry about catching the scarf ends under me and strangling myself. Well, I don’t really worry about strangling myself, but it is uncomfortable if I turn over in bed and the scarf has gotten caught.
Maya is in the Vagina Monologues this year, and so I’m finally going to actually see it, as opposed to just read it. (Side note: I borrowed the book from a professor, hm, about three years ago, and there’s a small chance I might still have it. That would be kinda poo of me. I should check on that.) And Maya asked if I’d knit some stuff for their raffle. I was thinking about a knitted womb, or a vulva coin purse, or a knitted “hoo hoo” pin. Maya thinks something more mainstream might encourage more people to enter the raffle, so I’m going to knit up some armwarmers, but I might also go ahead and make some more vagina-oriented stuff. Yay for vaginas!
Also! My BPAL order came in Monday. Whee! I ordered twelve imp’s ears (samples), and they very kindly sent me another four gratis. So far I’ve tried Bastet, Aizen-Myoo, and today I’m wearing Nocturne. And so far I like them all – and I especially love Aizen-Myoo. I still love Bordello the best, but Aizen-Myoo comes pretty close, in terms of smelling delicious on me. Yay for good smelly things!
I’ve been working intermittently on my on-going knitting projects, particularly the Colorwaves scarf. Fortunately for me, but unfortunately for my on-the-needles projects, Lance loaned me Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, and it’s very hard to put down.
Well, I ran out of Velvetspun, and had to put the first chemo cap on hold. I started the second chemo cap (out of Allure) to tide me over, and am just about finished with it. I also worked a bit on the scarf for my mom, and started a scarf for myself out of Lion Brand Colorwaves. Seriously, I think Colorwaves is my new favorite yarn. (I say that alot, don’t I?) Jen’s mom made her a scarf out of red Colorwaves, and I saw it Friday, and loved it. So I started one for myself. It’s just garter stitch on size 13s, but it’s seriously like the cushiest thing I’ve ever knit. And I like the uber-subtle striping.
Friday night’s D&D session was fun, and revolved around a gender-change-via-possession. Hee.
Ladies’ Night was lots of fun. We ordered Chinese, got a German chocolate cake, got our drink on, got our knit on, chatted, plotted world domination, watched the intro to Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle (no one really wanted to watch the porn, just the part where Snoop Dogg introduced it), watched Crybaby (fucking awesome!), watched an episode of the Daily Show, watched an episode of Monk. Ladies came and went at various times, but the last ladies left at two in the morning, which is rather late for me. I think it’s a testament to how much fun I was having that I stayed up that late. Oh! And Maya came early with Julie, and we had Ladies’ Afternoon, and played Fluxx. Julie left, because she didn’t want to have to drive back to Durham over crappy roads, but Maya stayed and bridged Ladies’ Afternoon into Ladies’ Night. (And a belated Happy Birthday!! to Roe v. Wade!)
Sunday afternoon’s D&D was also fun. My little sis couldn’t make it due to crappy road conditions between here and Greensboro, but we picked up Angelique’s and Lance’s characters.
And last night, we saw Eyes to Space at the Cradle. They were excellent, as usual.
Last night I started a chemo cap for one of my coworkers to pass on to a friend of theirs undergoing chemo. I’m psyched, because it’ll be the first chemo cap I’ve made that actually goes to someone undergoing chemo. I’m also psyched because my coworker offered to pay me for it – which I turned down, because I thought that would be lame. I mean, I’m constantly knitting hats for charity or to give away free, so it’d be kinda lame to charge for a chemo cap. That’s bullshit, I think. Plus, I get to keep whatever yarn’s leftover, so that’s a bonus! But, it’s like the first time anyone’s actually come up to me and said, “I’d like to commission some knitted stuff from you, and I’ll pay you for it.” So my coworker requested *a* hat, but I’m giving her two hats to pass on, because I figure the recipient might like two different hats to choose the one that best matches her style, or one to wear if the other one’s in the wash, or one for good days and one for bad days. Who knows. I almost got yarn to make three, but had to admit that was just because I wanted to buy more yarn. Anyway, the one I started last night is out of Lion Brand’s new Velvetspun, which is pretty fucking soft. And the second one is out of that Patons Allure you see in the post below, which is also pretty nice. If it wasn’t for a cancer-killer, I’d be tempted to keep it for myself.
Anyway, I took a picture of the first cap’s progress last night, but the stupid camera ate the picture and belched out a corrupted file in its place. Stupid camera.
Tonight is D&D. And tomorrow, assuming there’s no winter storm, is ladies’…afternoon or night, depending on who shows up when. Michel’s been planning it for a while, but no one ponied up to host it, so I finally said fuck that, and invited people over to my place. And also, that means I don’t have to leave the house tomorrow. Muhahahahah!
I just discovered this today, so I apologize if it’s nothing new to you: American Leftist. Go read, and be appalled. I thought I was already appalled? That was nothing. And I definitely need to start paying much closer attention. As do we all.
