Okay, so I totally love Sarah on America’s Next Top Model, and I totally love Kim, and I totally squee over Sarah and Kim. I’m a sucker for lesbians – I watched like five episodes of The O.C. because of Alex and Marissa. Thank god that’s over, though. The O.C., UGH.
I’m either on the front end or the tail end of a sinus infection. Fun stuff. I went home way early Monday, and stayed home yesterday. Here’s what I did all day yesterday: take some Nyquil, go to sleep for six hours, wake up, pee, blow my nose, drink a shitload of water (trying to thin out my mucous, you see), take some Nyquil, go to sleep for six hours, etc etc. Only it was a restless sort of sleep, since I couldn’t breathe so well, so I was still tired enough to go to bed early-ish. And now I’m “enjoying” medicine head from some supposedly non-drowsy stuff.
I’ve been a slack blogger lately because my computer isn’t hooked up to the internets yet, and I feel weird about blogging from Greg’s laptop. Or, rather, I feel weird about putting all the knitting pictures I’d want to blog about onto his laptop. So I don’t. Anyway, I have actually been knitting, I just haven’t mentioned it. When Lance and Angelique and Drake came to visit, they brought presents from up north, and mine was the best if you ask me.
Two balls of GORGEOUS, fluffy, kitten-soft Trendsetter Delicious in reds, pinks, oranges, maybe a little brown, with some sparkly tinsel to boot. Unbelievably gorgeous. I wanted to hoard it and pet it. They also snagged two scarf patterns for me, so I made one of them out of the yarn. As far as I can surmise from the pattern (and Lance’s description), it should look like those sproingy noodle scarves other people have made. But I think I used needles that were slightly too big, because my scarf’s not quite as sproingy. But I love it! I’ll have to take and post pictures later. I’m trying to find just the right hat pattern to go with the scarf, and if there’s enough yarn left over (and I think there will be), I’ll make gloves or armwarmers, too. And then I’ll be all ready for cold weather. Yeehaw!
I’ve also been cleaning a little here and there. One fit of cleaning led to all the sheets for the bed being put up, which meant one less snoozing place for Chalupa. See, she thought all those sheets stacked up were mighty comfy – and I rather thought I didn’t want to put “clean” sheets on the bed that were *already* covered in cat hair. Anyway, so I felt a little guilty about taking away her nap spot, and have a rather large yarn stash (which I realized after another fit of cleaning: unboxing and putting up yarn), so I started a little cushy blanket for her. And of course I started it last week or the week before and didn’t blog about it, so I’m almost done with it at this point.
I meant to do a longer entry, but I’m feeling poo, so I’ll catch up on the weekend’s fun later, and leave you with house pictures. Finally!
GM Eric gave me a copy of Shakespear’s Sister’s Hormonally Yours, since I think I’ve lost the tape I’ve had for ages. Anyway, so I’ve been listening to that today, and it’s reignited my grrl-crush on Shakespear’s Sister, and especially Siobhan Fahey, and their fab gothy style. Now I’ve got to track down their first album (Sacred Heart) and some of their solo stuff, too. Fun, fun.
I watched something I DVR’d off Ovation the other day – Dawn French on Big Women. And now I fucking love Dawn French. I mean, I knew she was funny before, but…Yeah. Love.
If you hear a crisp, tinkly, glassine sound today, that would be Hell freezing over: Ice-T to produce Hasselhoff rap album.
My piggies showed up night before last! (Greg got me Pass the Pigs for our anniversary, and they finally showed up.) I love, love, love them! We played at lunch today with Kathleen, and Greg won. The piggies also came with a free shirt – it says “D’BAD RIDE” and has what appears to be a monster riding a motorcycle. I have no idea what it’s promoting – I mean, I guess “D’BAD” but I don’t know what the hell that is. But, hey, it’s a free shirt.
Tonight, Greg is making his world class baked ziti! I am so excited! Yum!
And sometime this weekend, I need to change the locks. I’m kinda looking forward to it, but a little apprehensive since I’ve never done it before. I mean, in theory, I know how to do it – but in practice, well, I don’t want to make a huge hole taking the old locks off, because then we’d be pretty well fucked.
Where are my manners? I’d like to thank all the people that helped us move even though they totally didn’t have to: Eric, Lance and Angelique, Jesse and Sumi, and KT and Bridget. And Bill and Scott for offering/loaning moving supplies. Y’all are the bomb. As soon as we find the damn router’s power cord, I’ll have a more extensive report on the moving. And house pictures.
Last night – we saw one of THE BEST SHOWS EVER: Peelander-Z! Japanese Action Comic Punk. They ruled! They were mind-blowing! Do yourself a favor and check out their website – and try to catch them next time they’re near you. You won’t regret it!
Also, I just got the craziest email from my dad – long story short, he’s tired of Nigerian email money scams, and his new plan is to respond to them pretending to be a warlock or some shit that’s putting a ten-year curse on their family. And he emailed only ME for help with the phrasing/writing/cursing. What the fuck. I have no idea why he sent that to me.
Well, we’re done moving from Archstone to the house, although we’re not done unpacking by a long sight. We’re loving the house, and I’ve got plenty of pictures to post and some stories to tell as soon as I find some pertinent computer accessories, that are still packed at the moment.
We’re in the process of moving. We’re done for today, I think, and Greg’s showering and then we’re getting dinner at Penang. I might post some pictures of the house when we get home. Or I might go to sleep. I’m exhausted.
ARRR!
We be homeowners!
It’s pretty fucking awesome. The closing was ridiculously easy, thanks to SECU’s small package. (Hee. They are called “packages,” though, and it was small.) The sellers were done signing in about five minutes. We were done signing in about forty – but it could have been twenty if the lawyer hadn’t explained so much to us. And I say “explained” but really I mean “said shit that went right over all of our heads.” We were buying a house, no one was stopping us, and there weren’t any problems, so we basically just nodded like it sounded good and signed. Towards the end of the package, though, my signature started looking weird, and I had to pay attention so I wouldn’t put my initials as “JK” instead of “KJ.”
Then we went out to Rose’s and got some shit for the house. Basically bathroom stuff and trashcans, and a few things to make the place livable while Lance, Angelique, and Drake are visiting. Toilet paper, soap, you know. Stuff like that.
Then we came home and took a fucking nap. Yay, naps! I was fucking knackered. I think it was waking up early to be at closing on time, and then just generally getting all worked up about the house. But I got up in time to head over to Eric’s for the new game, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And Eric and I went to Crazie Mae’s for take-out, and it took for-fucking-ever to get our food, and it was pretty much as miserable and yuppified as I remembered it, so I probably won’t go back again.
And after the game, and after Greg got back from band practice, we went to Reservoir to celebrate the house, and Dylan and the other Eric (Kudzu Wish Eric, not GM Eric) came out to celebrate with us, so yay for that! Everyone else was busy or had work too early the next morning. (Except for Jesse and Sumi, who we forgot to call, because we blow goats, and I am sorry for forgetting.) Greg got pretty shitfaced and loud and lewd, but it was a good time. This morning, he smells like he was pickled, though.
And today marks the start of my new Thursday schedule, which is why I’m home blogging at 10:30 in the morning instead of being at work, and why I’ll be at work at 10 in the evening instead of blogging before bed. Hee. So far it’s kinda nice.
