I just finished updating my galleries, and have a couple thoughts:
1. Holy shit, I’ve been productive this year. I’ve made a lot of stuff. Damn.
2. I really need to stop waiting until the end of the year to finally get around to updating my galleries. That’s lame.
3. I probably need a better way to do the whole galleries thing. Those tables are a bitch to deal with sometimes, and I’m not really satisfied with the layout. Maybe there’s a better way to do it? Or maybe I should just link y’all to the relevant Flickr sets and leave it at that. I will have to think about this, because as they are now, they’re not doing it for me.
As promised, zoo pictures! For the most post, these are in alphabetical order according to what I saved the pictures as, since that’s how Photobucket arranged them. Instead of in chronological order. Boo. Sorry. Anyway, pics:

Thanksgiving was wonderful. On Wednesday, Sarah, Susan, and Shane came over for dinner. Greg made salad, baked ziti, and a tomato-cucumber polenta thing that was awesome, and I made madeleines. And we gave Sarah her birthday presents, since her birthday was Monday. (Happy 16th, Sarah!) I also made some more of Barbara Fisher’s (awesome) Cream of Curried Carrot Soup to take with us the next day.
Yesterday, we went to Greensboro to celebrate Thanksgiving with Greg’s mom, his sister, Jen, and his nephew, Logan. I made another batch of madeleines right before we left, too. It was great to see them again, and we had a very restful Thanksgiving, full of delicious food. Oh, and we played Monopoly, and I won – which never happens, so it was pretty cool. Then we got to hang out with James, Zack, and Mo, and Mo let us crash at his insanely gorgeous house. (And we got to meet the cats that live with him – Rambo and Octavian – who were very friendly and sweet. Yay for kitties.) Then we came home early this morning, where I got to get back in bed (since we hadn’t had much sleep) with our *own* cats. Yay even more! (Although I seem to have picked up a cold, maybe. It’s in early stages, and I’m hoping some zinc make it stop there.)
The zoo pictures are ready, but this post has kind of worn me out already – I think it’s a combination of the cold and the Dayquil I’m on making me woozy – but I will leave you with a picture from Proust Day of my linden (mint) tea and madeleines:

Zoo pictures tomorrow, unless I’m deathly ill.
GAGG: 55.39 miles
This includes walking around the zoo (7 miles), and getting on the Gazelle this morning. Now I am all gross and sweaty.
Speaking of the zoo, it is taking for-fucking-ever to upload those pictures, even using Photobucket’s bulk uploader. It’s cute, actually, and I mean that in a sarcastic way – Photobucket estimates it will take 9 seconds to upload 90 pictures with cable internet (which is what we have), and I started it uploading *before* I got on the Gazelle, and it’s still going. (And it’s been more than thirty minutes at this point, because I initially tried to blog it on Greg’s laptop, which didn’t work so much, and then walked around a bit to stretch out my calves before coming in here to blog on my computer. So it’s probably like 40ish, 45ish minutes at this point. And Photobucket estimated dial-up would make it take about 12 minutes. Cute.) So, pictures whenever Photobucket feels like it.
Shower time.
Alright, y’all. I stopped tracking who was reading this blog ages ago, but I know there are some knitters and other assorted crafty bitches reading, so this is for you. Pam (at lickmysticks) is working with Christmas in the City, a non-profit that supports and mentors Boston’s homeless families. (P.s., please forgive me for cribbing largely from Pam’s original post.) Anyway, basically, they need warm things for homeless kids – scarfs, hats, mittens, gloves, sweaters, blankets, booties, armwarmers, legwarmers, knit or crochet, size infant to teen. Go sign up (either leave a comment on Pam’s blog, or email her at snowwhitesuicide at gmail dot com), and make your stuff, and then send it to Pam, who’s collecting it and will be driving the items to Christmas in the City on Christmas. I figure I can at least make some armwarmers, a couple of hats and scarfs, maybe a sweater if I really focus. So go read more about it at the pertinent sites, and then sign up and get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. And I’ll make you cookies.
P.S. – the deadline for mailing is Dec. 17th. (But if you send something late, it’ll still get to a child in need – but don’t send late! Send early!)
