I *finally* framed my Homo Sweet Homo cross stitch (from Subversive Cross Stitch) like a week ago, and I *finally* got around to taking a picture of it hanging in the kitchen (um, like a couple days ago). Cute, huh?

Now I just need to frame and hang the Candy Ass one.

I am so close to being done with the Elfine socks. I just didn’t do the world’s best job of splitting the hank into two equal parts when I was winding it, so I think I’m going to have to finish the second sock (I mean, the one I started second) before I can finish the first sock, because the yarn cake I used for the second sock is the bigger of the two yarn cakes. And the first sock’s yarn cake is probably going to run out before that sock is actually finished, if I do two more lace repeats like I want to, instead of binding off now and calling it finished. It’s nice, I just think I would like the little bit of extra length that two more lace repeats would give. Hm. Anyway, I got the yarn from the sadly now-closed Black Stitch (I’d give you a link to the storefront, but it’s closed, so what’s the point). So sad, because Hibiscuitgirl’s yarns were pretty exquisite, and I kept waiting for some more Anne Bonny cotton yarn. Oh well. Anyhoodle, this colorway is West Indies, and I love it.

Last but not least of the pictures, a “boob-y” picture of the current refashion project – and on second look, I think it’s okay. It doesn’t look as bad in the picture as it did in the mirror (or in my memory). It might also be that I was wearing a different bra this time around. And that look on my face is, I think, because Greg was busting my chops at the time, or saying something about “no such thing as too-big boobs.” Who knows. Anyway, I’m hoping to get this dress all finished up by the end of the coming weekend.

Also, I’m back on my “we-needs-a-garden!!!!” kick, but I think it’s probably a little late to start planting about half the stuff I’d want, and also – I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before – we’re taking a week off in May to go to New York and see some shows (Dream Theater! Ensiferum!) and hang out with some friends, so I really ought to be saving my money and not spending it. Also, last year I tried having a garden, and we left for a week to go to Jon and Kea’s wedding (should that be, “Jon’s and Kea’s”?) and Disneyworld, and when we came back slugs had gotten all fucking over my precious, precious, precious snap peas, and that just killed me, so maybe I’d rather get things started *after* this year’s week-long vacation. Hm. Anyway, I’ve totally got gardening on the brain, and have plans for building frames for raised beds, and I’m definitely going to get a pair of fruit trees – I just have to figure out what. I’m leaning towards apple, I think. The thought of having actual fucking fruit trees in our garden is so exciting! I’d like to go ahead and get them planted this year, if it’s not too late, so that maybe they’ll start producing next year, but I’ve still got garden-planning to do. (Like how to slug-proof everything.) It’s early stages yet. Anyway, there you go.

GAGG: 138.56 miles (Thanks to hitting the gym this morning, and a killer walk in Boone on Saturday, jesus christ, those roads are insane. My legs still fucking hurt.)

Boone was interesting. I’m glad to be home, though. And I missed the cats. I got some work done on my Elfine socks. I think I’m pretty close to being done with them. Sweet.

Son of a bitch.

So, over the weekend, I had to pick some stuff up at the Indian grocer, and I came across some cheap kohl and was like, “You know what, I’m going to try this. I just haven’t been pleased with eyeliner lately, maybe this will be different.” And it was, and it’s awesome, and it’s my new fucking favorite eyeliner – it goes on so smooth and easily, and it doesn’t get all runny at my waterline. AND IT’S CONTAMINATED WITH LEAD.

Son of a goddamn bitch. Luckily, I’ve only worn it like four times, and I threw it out. (And it was pretty cheap, so I don’t feel too bad about having to toss it.) Now I’m off to go look up symptoms of lead poisoning. Booooo.

Progressing (SLOWLY) on the current re-fashion.

If you want all the gory details, read here. But the gist is, I was planning on giving it an empire waist, and it looks like an empire waist might make my boobs look too big. Previously, I would have said it would be impossible for an article of clothing to make my boobs look too big, that I am all about enhanced boobage. But it looks like I may have found my limit. I’ll post pictures when I can get Greg to help me take them (since I have to be wearing the dress and holding it in to give the impression of an empire waist, and therefore will not be able to also take the picture myself). I never thought I’d see the day, but, yeah, I think it maybe makes my boobs look too big.

Okay, laundry has been piling up lately because as a housewife I’m a bit of a joke, and we’re going to Boone this weekend, so I need warm jimjams and whatnot, so I’m off to do more laundry. More later.

To the utter douchebag who felt entitled to slow down as he walked past me (while I was busting my ass on the bike in the gym), give me a sneering once-over, and then roll his eyes at me: FUCK YOU. I don’t need your fat-shaming when I’m getting my workout on in the gym, and I certainly don’t need it to remind me that I’m fat since it’s something I’m pretty much acutely aware of every moment in the day, you jackass. If you have a problem with fat people using the gym, work out in the privacy of your own home, fucker. Damn.

In other news, our wonderful, marvelous, fantastic, can’t-be-beat vet worked Skeeter and Chalupa in Saturday morning, since I managed to confuse the guy who scheduled our appointment. (I meant to book for Saturday morning, but we got booked for Tuesday morning – it was entirely my fault, but I showed up Saturday since I didn’t realize we weren’t booked then, and they worked us in, and very quickly, at that, too.) And a good thing, because, aside from the check-up and vaccines they both needed, it turned out Chalupa had a nasty case of contact dermatitis. I’d noticed a spot on one of her back legs that was missing some hair. I figured she and Skeeter had just had a spat and it got ripped out, but I thought I’d better take her to the vet’s just to make sure it wasn’t mange or ringworm or something equally gnarly and treatment-requiring. It’s not ringworm, since not all the spots are rings, or even round/symmetrical, and it didn’t fluoresce under the ringworm-light. (Which is actually called something starting with a “w,” but I can’t remember what.) The vet decided it was contact dermatitis due to an allergy – most likely to the new litter (Feline Pine Clumping – which ironically she seemed to prefer over the old clay litter) I’ve been using for a couple weeks, since that’s the only thing that’s changed lately. Chalupa also had some gnarly, raw-ish, scabby spots on her stomach – I felt like a complete asshole for not spotting them myself. Anyway, she’s on steroids and I switched back to the old litter (Tidy Cats) when we got home, and this morning it finally looked like the spots were starting to clear up. Which is awesome. I’ve got to call the vet this week and give her an update, but I’m going to wait until tomorrow and make sure it’s looking better, since until this morning I couldn’t be sure if it was staying the same or getting slightly worse. (Getting worse would mean it’s not contact dermatitis, and that we’d need to stop the steroids and get back into the vet’s to figure out what was going on.) But this morning it looked like it was clearing up, and that’s awesome. And Chalupa has been very, very good about letting me pill her and roll her over to inspect her belly, which is a huge deal for her.

GAGG: 121.88 miles

Went to the gym again yesterday. Planning on going today, too.

Greg and I started watching Willow last night – he’s never seen it before. And he likes it! (Greg NEVER likes movies. He is about as picky as I am not-picky, when it comes to movies.) We were both falling asleep right when Bavmorda turns everyone but Willow into pigs, so we decided to finish it later. Jean Marsh is the shit.

I have plans to sew up a dress this weekend – or, actually, to refashion a dress I got on the ‘bay into a cuter dress. Awesome.

I am deadass tired, so I’ll talk about this later, but I had to post the picture right now because I’m done and I fucking love it. Wearing it to work tomorrow – err, later today, I guess.

Two refashions/repairs this week – small but necessary and practical. Here are the pictures – for the blathering/explanation, go to my Wardrobe Refashion post about them.

Skeeter and Chalupa got in a gnarly fight* while I was in the bathroom tonight, and managed to knock over the litter box in the bedroom. Sometimes I just want to fucking strangle them, I’m not going to lie, and finding this mess was one of those times. It cleaned up pretty easily, though, and some sinfully delicious Ben & Jerry’s Cinnamon Buns ice cream helped my wrath subside. (Interesting note: did you know “wroth” is an adjective form of “wrath?” I did not, until just now. Neat.) Although I have told the cats that there will be no more fighting tonight, and that the first one of them to even try and start a fight, I will step on their head. (Not really, of course, but don’t tell them that. Maybe the threat will keep them on their best behavior.)

(*It sounded pretty gnarly, and they did tip over the litter box – god only knows how that happened, whether Skeeter jumped his mom in the litter box, or whether one of them caromed off the side of the litter box while jumping onto the dresser next to it. However, before yelling at them and then separating them and then cleaning the mess up, I did check for wounds, and they had nary a scratch.)
