First FOTD
So, to be honest, one of the main reasons I finally got my ass in gear and got a domain is to do face-of-the-day posts. Because I have been on a huge makeup kick, for a while now. And I drool over other fotds, and just wanted to preen. Basically.
This is my first, and it’s not as clean nor as dramatic as it was this morning when I’d first done it. But on the other hand, I wore it all day, then had a migraine (and smudged up my eyeliner a bit when I was covering my eyes during it), and then decided to go ahead and take a pic before removing the makeup and going to bed. So, pretty good hold-up considering, I think. Looking at it now, I should’ve gone with one of my bolder mascaras, but whatevs. (If I look a little…perplexed? something? in the glasses pic, it’s because I had to take about twenty shots to get a good one – I am not good at self-portraits. Another reason to do FOTD and get better, become more familiar with my camera.)

The rundown:
-No lotion this morning. Scandalous! But there it is. I’ve been using more at night, and I’ve been sick with some sinus crud, sweating and running the humidifier every night, so I wasn’t too dry this morning.
-CoverGirl Clean Pressed Powder #105 Ivory
-Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow Quad #04 Charcoal Smokes (Brow bone color all over lid and brow; lid color over lid and halfway up the brow; crease color all over lid and into crease; outer corner color – darkest black – all over lid. Overkill? Probably. Nice and dark and smokey? Just the way I like it.)
-L’Oreal HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner #905 Black (upper lash line and wings)
-Almay Intense I-color Eyeliner #03 Black Pearl (lower lash line, inner and outer corners to connect with HiP eyeliner, and upper* and lower water lines)
-Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Brownish Black
-Nyx Brush on Gloss #102 Lilic [sic] Field (I never noticed that misspelling before now, and it kind of bothers the anal retentive OCD part of me, but the color is goddamn ethereally gorgeous, and I heart Nyx, so…I just put that “[sic]” in to assuage my inner nitpicker.)
*Can I tell you how excited I was to discover I could do my upper water line pretty easily? I am sooooo squeamish I never imagined I could do it, and “smashing my eyes shut” wasn’t transferring liner from my lower water line to my upper – but holy shit. I decided to go for it one day, and lo and behold, magically, I can do it. No squeamishness, no eye-watering, no blinking, it is sweet since I love that dark kohl look. Especially since the real kohl I love, love, love and that goes on effortlessly and flawlessly every time? Totes has lead in it. (I was hopeless at eyeliner until I got that kohl. It went on like magic. And then when I found out it had lead in it, it had to go, and I set about getting better at eyeliner so I could reproduce the effect as best I could. I still need to try making my own lead-free kohl, but I’m so lazy I haven’t gotten around to it yet.)
