Swatch Sunday, 5/30/10: Sobe Botanicals
Sobe Botanicals’ Spring Fling Collection
![]() |
I had to circle the swatches with brown eyeliner to give my camera something to focus on. (It just couldn’t differentiate between the shadows and my skin otherwise, and wouldn’t focus.) The top half of the swatches are on bare skin; the bottom half are over Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
Left to right:
-Dahlia
-Tropicoral
-Monarch
-Sunbeam
-Grass
-Set Sail

FOTD: Green Maiden (5/29/10)
Mel and Jess came over last night to hang out, and it was quite a bit of fun, and perked my spirits back up. Greg had planned on going to see Obituary and Vital Remains – but that was before we got dinner at James Joyce and he had two high gravity beers. Hee. He decided to hang out with us, and we watched some It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Then Greg and Mel watched IASIP, while Jess and I watched makeup videos on youtube.
I wanted to try eye makeup somewhat according to fuzkittie’s basic eye makeup videos. (I tried putting my dark shadow shade over the eyeliner and blending out. I liked it – defined but not too sharp. I also tried tightlining, and it wasn’t as difficult as I thought. My left eye watered like a bitch for some reason, though; the right eye, no problems whatsoever.) I also wanted to use some of my new Silk Naturals products. Once I was done with the eyes, and had put on my foundation, I thought I looked really pale, so I added blush. And then I was feeling adventurous or something, because I decided to try a little contouring. Just a very little, though – baby steps! – and I was expecting Mel and Jess shortly, and didn’t want it to come out looking awful. It came out pretty subtle, but I could tell it made a difference, so I’m pretty happy with it, and may have to try contouring more often in the future.

Woohoo!!!!
Finally unlocked it. Very sweet.
(Now to get my ass totally kicked by Bad Moon. Oh well. And *of course* I have to make it even harder by trying a 100% Black Cat run to permanently unlock Bad Moon.)
Oh, goddammit.
I got my Silk Naturals order today. It is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I got another piece of mail that really has me bummed, so I don’t want to take pictures of the order, or today’s makeup (which wasn’t that great anyway), or even play with my new lovely makeups. Or anything really. Sometimes I hate people. Great way to start a fucking holiday weekend, huh. I’ll be back later, when I’m not so emo and morose and am more entertaining. Jesus Christ.
LOST
I stayed up late to watch the Lost finale. After it was over, I was pretty upset. In some ways, everyone got a happy ending. It just wasn’t the happy ending *I* wanted. (Yes, I know I’m ridiculous and it’s just a tv show.
) It was…I don’t know. Maybe “bittersweet” is the best word for it. It was very sad. But it was also very good. And it was extremely well done. To go into what was so upsetting about it for me would require some spoiler-y discussion, so I’m putting that below the cut. It’s going to be long and…I don’t know. Philosophical? Something. And it also involves some discussion of my anxieties/neuroses/”mental issues”/existential angst/what-have-you, so if you’re not really into reading about that, skip it.
FOTD: Et ma vie pour tes yeux lentement s’empoisonne (5/27/10)
I loooooooove shu uemura’s égérie eye shimmer duo in Starry Violet. Love, love, love it! After seeing the lovely eye looks over at Lotus Palace, I had to try something similar myself, but I was thinking I’d just work with products I already had. And then I saw her EOTD with Starry Violet, and it was lemming at first sight. I snagged a new one on Ebay (that devilish enabler) on the cheap. (I mean, I love this stuff, but I don’t know if I love it $42 worth, you know?) Anyway, it arrived yesterday, and I tried it out: one lid the way shu uemura recommends (layered together), one lid the Lotus Palace way. And I liked the Lotus Palace way best, so that’s what I did today.
Holy shit – I’m trying to pick a full face shot (I usually edit my photos at the same time I write the FOTDs up), and I just realized how very much my glasses hide the bags under my eyes. Jesus christ. Okay, check it out: here’s me, after dinner and before reapplying the lip jelly whatever, with glasses:

And here’s me, after reapplying the jelly balm, but without glasses (so, with undereye baggage).
Poop.
I used to have this cute sheer-ish pink nail polish with light glitter in it, pretty sure it was Lipsmackers brand, or Bonne Bell. I badly want that polish again, but am pretty sure it’s long been discontinued. Booo.
ETA: Apparently it was Bonne Bell’s Cosmic Nails scented polish in Strawberry. Hm.
FOTD: Blue by request (5/26/10)
That would be Greg’s request. Apparently he’s a fan of blue eyeshadow. Is that cliched? Anyway. I am feeling super damn productive tonight, even though all I’ve done is manage to not be fucking lazy and get my strength training done by 7:15. Go me. In a bit, when I’m done sweating on myself, I’m going to shower, and then watch tv, paint my nails, and knit. And go to bed fucking early, since I have been getting too little sleep lately. But I’m blathering.

Just had to squee real quick. Now back to watching fuzkittie’s youtube vids.
FOTD: (5/25/10)
I have been fawning over the pretty, shimmery eye looks over at Lotus Palace, and have been meaning to try something similar myself. But this morning I was feeling green more than pink or purple, so I grabbed Erelieva. I kinda like it. (Sorry for the nostril shot. Hm. Good thing it’s clean, right.)
