Fabric cut!
I’ve cut enough fabric for nine pillows, and now I’ve got to iron them. I usually try to skip ironing, but it really needs to be done for the finished object to turn out best. I should have pre-washed all the fabric, too, but I totally forgot. I’m hoping I pre-washed it as soon as I got it, and then stuffed it in my stash. Sometimes I do that. If not, I hope it doesn’t shrink after sewing.

I wanted makeup that kind of mirrored my hair, and here’s what I put together. (And I was a bit influenced by Dainty Darling Digits’s pretty blue look, too.)

I am such a sucker for Ok Go’s one-take videos. (It also doesn’t hurt that their songs don’t make me want to stab my eardrums with a pencil.) This one is no exception, and I especially love the chair do-si-dos (how fun does that look?!). Oh, and also the agility tricks! (I’m an even bigger sucker for those.) And the border collies. There’s a special place in my heart for border collies (right next to the one for Irish wolfhounds).
I also like Ok Go’s stance on net neutrality and viral videos. And, you know, the whole music-I-want-to-shake-my-ass-to thing. (“Here it comes again” is perpetually on my “Dr. Wigglybutt, B.D.” mix.) Happy Tuesday!
Fucking anxiety.
I mean, really, who wants to go to bellydance class when they could be staying at home, fretting over what is most likely a bruised rib, but that little anxious voice in their head is worrying it’s their liver (even with zero other symptoms to suggest that)? Fun is overrated anyway.
Ugh. It is not helping my anxiety over this weird feeling in my side that I’m being all judgemental about what an irrational fear it is. It’s also not helping that Chalupa is going buckwild for some reason, and running around the house like a crazed fiend, making all sorts of random noises that startle me. The joys of cats. I’m going to go try to distract myself with another ice pack and some nail polish. And then see if I can meditate and chill the fuck out.
Cupcake Pink and Fish Bowl
I was running kind of late this morning, and didn’t get a chance to put on the makeup I’d picked out last night. Which I guess is kind of fitting, since it’s No Makeup Week? Not that I’d really intended to observe it.
I bleached my hair over the weekend, and it “took,” so I dyed it with Special Effects Cupcake Pink and Fish Bowl. Greg suggested I do one color on the top half, and one color on the bottom, since I hadn’t done it before. He also helped with the bleaching and dyeing, which was great since I can’t see the back of my head that well (even with a mirror). I’m really happy with how it turned out, although there are a couple blonde-ish spots. But I’ve got some of the pink left, so I’ll probably have another go at those spots later.

And now I’m going to go back to reading The Girl who Played with Fire before leaving for bellydance class tonight. Later taters!
Swatch Sunday, 9/19/10: Lippies
I figured I should go ahead and do lip swatches for the lippies I’ve “already done,” but only on my hands. (Because I checked the collection on Flickr to see what I’d already done, and my OCD tendencies were all, “Must have hand *and* lip swatches for everything!”) So today I’ve got two Rimmel lipsticks, and two High Voltage lip gunks below the cut.
FOTD: Rapunzel’s Leopard-Print Bunnies (9/17/10)
I got to do a makeup look with Fyrinnae on Friday, and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. I knew I wanted to use Rapunzel Had Extensions, so Thursday evening I swatched it with some other Fyrinnae shadows to see what I wanted to pair with it. I settled on Lust Bunnies and Leopard-Print Galaxy. I love, love, love Fyrinnae, and think I’m starting to get the swing of Pixie Epoxy, as well as the whole “patting it on, as opposed to sweeping.” I think I’d been mostly sweeping prior to this look, and it really does make a difference: it felt much easier to blend and get it to look how I wanted without have to reapply and reapply and reapply… So it also took much less time than my previous attempts.

Mental health update: Pretty awesome
This might be long, so I’m going to put it under the cut. Not because I’m ashamed of my particular brand of crazy, but, you know, just in case you only give a shit about makeup or stuff that doesn’t involve me navel-gazing and whatnot. If you’re into that shit, see you below the cut!
FOTD: Earth angel? (9/15/10)
Finally got around to trying out another e.l.f. look: earth angel. (I skipped the brow gel.) Kind of a nice, soft look, perfect for meditation class. Which, oh look at that!, just so happened to start last night.
(Okay, no, that’s not a coincidence. I totally went with a softer, more neutral look on purpose. I *didn’t* intend for it to be so similar to this look, but eh.)
