Trust me, you want to get in on this:
The books are fucking EPIC. And this looks like it will be, too. Dream casting, excruciating attention to detail, author involvement, amazing cinematography and set design/locations. Absolutely perfect tone. Everyone involved is incredibly talented: actors, filmmakers, production team, designers, fight choreographers, costumers, everyone. Droooooooooool.
Half an FO!!!
Boom:

One Twinkleberry down, one more to go. For this pair, anyway.
Swatch Sunday, 11/28/10: More Maybelline Color Sensational stuff
left: Color Sensational lipstick in Wined and Dined
right: Color Sensational lipliner in Red

FOTD: Lickable (11/26/10)
Real simple last minute makeup to hang out with friends. And I think Cremesheen is my new favorite MAC lipstick texture. And Lickable is definitely one of my new favorite shades!

Ambien is a hell of a drug
So happy I seem to have found a different drug that helps me get to sleep, so I can stop taking Ambien. It’s a bit scary. On the other hand, it spurs me to swatch lipstick samples that have been languishing in my sample binder forever. Now maybe I’ll know which I need to buy full sizes of! (Although unfortunately my sample of Shrieking Violet was so old that it had gone off, and wasn’t any practical use for swatching. I’m just going to get a full size of it anyway. It looks so gorgeous on Ms. Pixie that I have to have it.) Sorry some of these swatches are sloppy – I was half-asleep, though.
These are all Morgana Cryptoria Vegan Lipsticks. Some of them aren’t listed right now – not sure if that means they’re discontinued, or just not currently listed.
FOTD: I like this Josie Maran stuff (11/25/10)
I must say, I am pretty damn pleased with the Josie Maran Beauty in a Box: Orglamic Revolution kit! I especially love the lipgloss, and the brush on the mascara. And I didn’t use an eye primer, but the shadows stuck around really, really well.

FOTD: Gunmetal blade (11/24/10)
These eyeshadows look silver to me in the palette, but apparently read as blue, or bluish, as I got several compliments today on matching my eyeshadow to my hair.
I can see it – it does have a bluish tinge in the mirror. I suppose that’s appropriate for “gunmetal.” Anyhoodles!

Soup “Thursday”: Oriental Prince, indeed
Tonight I made miso soup following these directions, and HOLY SHIT, Y’ALL!!! Best. Miso. Soup. Ever! (I used reconstituted dried shitaake mushrooms instead of bonito flakes, but that’s the only change I made to Principessa’s instructions.) Greg said it “gave the French onion a run for its money,” and they’re his absolute favorites. I think the next time I make it (there’s not even a question of *whether* we’ll be making this again – oh, we WILL), I’ll whip up a bit more broth, since I kind of overestimated how much “non-broth stuff” I needed. (Principessa Grassa was NOT kidding when she said wakame expands a TON while soaking. It’s crazy how much it expands.) I mean, it was de-fucking-licious, don’t get me wrong, but the broth to non-broth ratio could have been tweaked a smidge. Now, next time I could just use smaller amounts of non-broth stuff, but where’s the fun in that.
Another note, to tell you how fucking awesome this soup is: Greg *always* tweaks soup, always. Salt here, pepper there, usually some hot sauce, occasionally some soy sauce. I got out the cock sauce and the soy sauce, and offered him the salt and pepper, and he declined all of it, because the soup was perfect as-is. Yeah. That’s a hell of a recommendation right there. Also? It honestly took like maybe fifteen minutes. Easy peasy! You NEED to make this soup. It’s definitely going into heavy rotation chez nous.

#8: In spite of my social anxiety, I rather enjoy embarrassing myself
That’s me snoring at 0:12, 0:17, and 0:23. 0:25-26 is sound effects from Ghostbusters.
Another award?! Aw, you’re making me blush!
The lovely Amy (or is it Amyy?), over at Amyy’s Addiction, just gave me the Versatile Blogger Award! Thanks, lady!

This award has the following rules:
Thank and link back to who gave you the award.
Share seven things about yourself.
Pass it along to seven blogs you’ve recently discovered and enjoy.
Hm. Seven things…right.
1. I also have anxiety issues (out the wazoo, kind of, but I’m working on them, and making good headway), and just picked up a clonopin script so that driving back from Greensboro after Thanksgiving isn’t TOTALLY UGLY. Yeah. I have this “thing” about driving at night in general, and another “thing” about hitting deer, and another “thing” about driving when the road could possibly be icy. So, yeah, I’m *real fun* in a car around Thanksgiving and Hogswatch/winter holidays. I’m actually not that bad lately, but I’m hedging my bets, too.
2. I FINALLY started the Twinkleberry socks I had to have after finding the pattern over at Principessa Grassa’s a while back. I haven’t posted pictures of them (yet), but they are well on their way, believe me. I love them!
3. I’ve FINALLY started getting serious about practicing the uke. It’s getting easier, and my strumming is getting there. I’m most excited about learning “Button Up Your Overcoat.” I want to learn about ten songs, and then it’ll be time to start my jug/string band. So. Excited!
4. I have a foul mouth, but really…I don’t think it’s that bad over here, on the blog. Or maybe it is, and I’m just used to it? It’s TONS worse in real life, though. But I have a deep and abiding love of cussing, so…not likely to go anywhere any time soon. (Although I do try to rein it on other peoples’ blogs. At least until *they* drop a cussword.)
5. I am super verbose. Surprising, I know. I try to be concise, but it’s a real effort, especially when I’m so into describing something down to the last nuance.
6. I kind of totally love karaoke. My perfectionism and social anxiety combine to make it pretty damn uncomfortable sometimes (like when Greg signs me up on the sly to sing “Borderline”
), but I have a decent voice and not only do I know that, I’m actually rather vain about it, so I love karaoke. I also just joined SingSnap recently, so we’ll see if I find my balls and let y’all know when I’ve recorded shit.
7. Fatshionista totally makes me want to be more stylish on a regular basis, but I’m kind of clueless about putting together outfits that involve much more than jeans, a tshirt, and maybe some simple accessories. Plus my wardrobe, as it stands now, doesn’t seem to extend much past tshirts, nor lend itself to remixing. I’m trying to figure this shit out, though, so you can expect to see *even more preening* in the future, god help you all.
And seven blogs that you need to check out (some/half/most? of these are tumblrs, but that’s cool, right?):
A Pretty Penny
Big Mama Style (I love that her looks are so eclectic!)
That Obscure Object (not always SFW)
Fancy Geek
Fuck Yeah Chubby Fashion
Fuck Yeah Fat Positive (also not always SFW)
Fuck Yeah Femmes (and also not always SFW)
So, yeah, that’s where my head’s been at lately: fat positivity, fashion, makeup, queer identity. They’re all kind of related, actually, at least for me.
