FOTD: Pin-uppy for date night (1/29/11)
Last night, Greg and I had a dinner-and-a-movie date night, and it was wonderful! We ate at Tobacco Road, which I’d been to once before, and it is not nearly as busy on a Sunday afternoon as it is on a Saturday night. (Probably not a surprise there.) They were slammed, but the food was still good, and my mojito was scrumptious! We sat in the bar area, but not at the bar itself, and it was kind of…hard to describe, really. Cramped, and we were at one long but shallow tabletop. Afterwards, we went to see The Green Hornet, which we agreed was not really a good movie, but it was fun. Maybe I mean “not a great movie.” Anyway, I wanted to look extra cute, so I got all dolled up and went for more of a classic pin-uppy, pink and brown type makeup look. (I took pics before I put my contacts in, which is why my hair is still in curlers – sorry about that!) Greg didn’t really get dressed up, so I made him put on a plain black tshirt, instead of his Morbid Angel “Extreme Music for Extreme People” tshirt.

Slim Ts are like Spanx for dudes, pretty much
I’m watching Untucked, and I’d forgotten about the existence of Slim Ts until the ad came on. They tickle me.
Anyhoodle, my Aromaleigh came today! I got the sample sets of the Astronomical, Mythos, Wonderstruck, and Spells collections. So I’m about to copy the shit out of y’all. I don’t trust myself to, uh, classify colors well, so if you use, say, a pinky bronze, then I’m like, “….uh, shit. I’m pretty sure this is bronze, but…pinky?” So, yeah, this way, I get to copy without having to think too hard about it. And, really, more Aromaleigh? Done deal! I wish all my beloved AL lippies hadn’t gone bad. (They were real old, though, for real. It was their time. I just miss them. Melancholy was my jam, and I haven’t come across a good dupe for it yet.)
Another commercial that just came on: CatGenie. It looks really neat (cat litter I never have to scoop or even deal with again? I wish), but the woman holding the cat at the end of the commercial looks straight-up like a Real Doll, not an actual human being. Weird.
Anyway, I’m going to go dither over all these lovelies, and try to figure out what to wear tomorrow, since I can’t really slap ALL of them on my face at once. I mean, I could, but I don’t know that it’d be cute.
Almost depressingly dull
The lovely Principessa Grassa did a run-down recently of search terms that had led people to her blog, and it looked like fun, so I thought I’d see what’s bringing bitches here. (Oh, I am just barely restraining myself from making a Kelis-related joke, since it would be weak and probably overdone. You’re welcome.) And it’s pretty dull, actually. In the past month, it’s mostly people looking for swatches: “revlon lipstick fabulous fig,” “zoya pasha,” “24/7 jackpot,” and the like. Hope I was some sort of help, y’all!
12 people came here looking for Sybil Buck. Obviously, I’m not Sybil Buck, but I have posted her a couple times, since she is the hotness, so hopefully y’all weren’t completely disappointed.
“Antidepressants fun.” Maybe? Not of late, and I’m having to go see an actual psychiatrist to get shit sorted out – so if *you’re* having “antidepressants fun” maybe you could give me a tip?
“Adora Belle Dearheart” – Three people have excellent taste, I see.
“Fucking spinster” – Well, yes, but not the type you’re probably looking for.
“revlon 007 lipstek” – This cracks me up because it makes me think of “milk steak.” “Lipstek” is totally what Charlie thinks the Waitress wears. Love it.
Two people got here by searching “kathyfuckingjacobs bramcost.” Wow. Not only do you pretty much already know my url, but you’ve also got my number. Holy shit, do I love Bramcost and the books they put out!
“old lady with labret” – That’s another good one. Yes.
“nudies teenagers boobs” – That’s more like what I was expecting, but only one searcher. Where are the pervs? (Just kidding, do not want.)
One person searched “kathy fucking jacobs.” – Dude, so close already. I like to think it’s a memorable url, but maybe not.
One searcher came for “sauce n cake” – hell yeah. That shit’s awesome.
“What color is that cat from meow cosmetics” – which one? The one under the banner on the homepage? My guess would be something like leopard or ocelet – something spotted.
“inblogtitle: ‘spinster’” – once again, so close.
And a bajillion and one specific swatch searches. Looks like I maybe know my audience. Great.
FOTD: Sweet candy housewife (1/26/11)
Don’t ask me what a “sweet candy housewife” is – I don’t even know myself. Those are just the first three words that popped into my head when I was trying to describe what I liked about this image:

How perfect are those pink-tipped pincurls?! Like little roses! So sweet.
So, yeah, this is my inspiration for today. Let’s see how I did:

FOTD: Trina Turk Clinique thingy (1/24/11)
One of my favorite lipsticks is probably Clinique’s All Heart, which I used to have but lost. It’s Clinique Bonus Time at Belk, and I’m on their mailing list so I got an email about it. And I’ve been meaning to try their Pore Minimizer Thermal-Active Skin Refiner, so I figured I’d get some free stuff with it.
And one of the freebies just so happens to be my beloved All Heart, so, yay! Anyway, thinking about that over the weekend spurred me to get around to trying the “Trina Turk Fall favorites” I got in my first Clinique GWP. Um, yeah – I’ve been sitting on them that long. What can I say? The colors didn’t really speak to me. And now that they’re on my face, I’m not sure, either. They’re pretty, I guess. Maybe I’d like them better in combination with other colors? Although Daybreak seems pretty close to my skin color, so maybe it would make a good highlight shade? The Lash Doubling Mascara, though – BOO. I am not a fan of the wand – it just made it impossible to avoid getting little smudges on my eyelid. Eventually I gave up removing and reapplying, and just tried to get as much off with a q-tip as I could and call it a day. Anyway, onto the look.

FOTD: Not quite what I had in mind (1/21/11)
I wanted to do a yellow and golden brown look, so I picked Pillage and Honey Pot. In the bags, they looked like they’d go well together, but on my lid…Pillage had more of a greenish-yellow cast in real life than I liked with Honey Pot. Don’t get me wrong – they’re both gorgeous, and great to work with, and it was really only apparent in person, but it’s just not what I was hoping for. But sometimes that happens.

FOTD: Clio’s Corruption (1/20/11)
I wanted to use Meow Cosmetics today, and I had to give a training session, so I went for a more neutral eye. I really love my Meow Cosmetics shadows – I don’t use them often enough. But, that’s a problem I have with most of my indie makeup. I’ve been fortunate enough (and profited from y’all’s lovely reviews) to get the good stuff, so it’s always difficult to decide what to use. What a difficult life, amirite?
I just got my first order from Darling Girl Cosmetics today, so I’ll be playing with some of that tomorrow.

FOTD: Don’t eat him, it’s Stanley (1/19/11)
Managed to get my shit together enough this morning to do a simple look. Forgot the foundation though. Oh well. I do like these Sleek palettes!

Close-ups, details, and blather follow.
