FOTD: 2/22/11

February 22, 2011 at 9:44 pm (blather, FOTD, preen) (, , , , , )

I liked these two shadows together in their jars, next to each other. Actually on my eyelids? Not entirely sold, to be honest. They’re each really, really pretty (I mean, what do you expect, they’re Fyrinnae), but I just don’t know about the combo. It’s growing on me slowly, though. Maybe if I’d just done Love Potion in the inner corners, and Kimchi everywhere else? Or maybe I was thinking of Avian Shapeshifter, but picked Love Potion by mistake? I’ve been a bit addled lately, who knows.

-Too Faced Shadow Insurance (lid to brow)
-Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy (lid)
-Fyrinnae Loose Eyeshadow in Kimchi (crease and outer vee)
-Fyrinnae Arcane Magic Loose Eyeshadow in Love Potion (lid)
-Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion (waterlines)
-Clinique High Lengths Mascara in Black
-e.l.f. Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara (brows)
-CoverGirl Nature Luxe Liquid Silk Foundation in Flax
-Fyrinnae Fluff
-Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Backstage Kisses

I left the cropped eye shots large and in charge, in case you want to see all the sparkly goodness (and my worn, smudgy eyeliner). Just click the pic, and revel in the awesomeness that is Fyrinnae. Backstage Kisses is super pretty, too. I need to use it more often.

Hmm. The more I look at the pictures, though, the more familiar this look feels. Have I done it before?…Looks like not quite. I was thinking of this look and this look, and they have some similarities, but that’s about it. I realize that my ridiculous stash (ridiculous in my opinion; maybe not that ridiculous compared to other peeps’ stuff) and my personal preferences for certain colors or color-pairings over others, make a certain amount of repetition unavoidable. But for some reason, I’d really, really hate to do the exact same look twice, forget I’d done it before, and take pictures and post them. Do y’all get…angsty or whatever about that, too? I mean, if I was purposefully recreating a look, to try to do it better, or tweak it, or some shit, that’d be fine. But thinking, “Wait…this looks familiar – did I do Kimchi and Love Potion already?!” really makes me cringe. Such a weirdo. Anyhoodles.

Love Potion is so pretty. I hate it when that happens… it pisses me off so much it makes me want to wipe off whatever I have on my face and start over. But I’m normally in a hurry to get out the door so I don’t do that. :p

Yeah, me, too. Luckily I work on a university campus, and there are always a couple people in insane outfits and/or makeup, so when I have those days, I’m like, “1-I work in a cube and don’t see that many people, and 2-when I do see people, they’re probably going to be staring at that person more, so I’m good.” And if that doesn’t work, and I’m still uncomfortable with my makeup, I figure it’s character-building. :)

(Unless I *really* jacked it up, and then I run to the bathroom and hope soap and water will take it off.)

Awwh I think the combo is beautiful, especially with that lip colour! It would also look nice with some brown liner smudged top and bottom :)

Ugh I’ve been getting that look deja vu lately, except usually I’m too lazy to search my own blog to find the similar looks >__>

Thanks! And that’s funny you suggest brown liner, since I’ve been all, “Hmm….brown liner….” lately. :)

I actually like this combo very much! Reminds me of seashells or some aquatic theme in general, especially with Kimchi in the crease. Backstage Kisses was an excellent complement to this look. Would you recommend Fyrinnae’s Fluff?

    • kayeffjay said,

Aww, thank you! Seashells – I love that! Aww. :D I would definitely recommend Fluff. I’m kind of obsessed with how large and visible my pores are lately, and when I wear Fluff, I can’t see them at all from further away. I can still see them when I’m up close to the mirror, putting on the rest of my makeup, but they’re nowhere near as apparent with the Fluff as they are without it. Actually, now that I think about it, I should probably just stick it in my bag and use it daily. That’s how much I love it.
