Excitement!!!
I get to be part of a collaborative makeup channel!!! I’m so psyched, y’all! I feel like I’m pretty much a noob still, when it comes to makeup – need more practice blending, totes, and my color pairings usually aren’t that inspired (unless I’m copying someone else’s look), and my placement kills me sometimes (like below; ugh, should have been smoked out more, and the creases are sooooo different, which bothers me even though my eyes are different, whatever) – so I am super duper honored to be part of this. Even if I wasn’t part of it, though, I’d still be hella psyched about it. I think it’s a great idea, and going to be lots of fun. Here’s Wendy’s video introducing herself and the channel. Also, I haven’t watched all the other intros yet – but I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who’s not wearing ANY makeup for her intro. “Makeup Hero,” right? Eh, it was late, I was drunk (the only way I could calm down enough and keep it short), you love me, you’ll let it slide. This time.
FOTD: Pam, for Jerry (6/27/11)
Jerry requested a look with Cruella, to see if she wanted it, and we decided I’d do a Pam-inspired look. (From True Blood. “My Pammie,” as I call her, is one of my two favorites on the show. The other is Lafayette, duh, he’s awesome. They both are, actually.) I’m pretty happy with how the look turned out, although I really should have smudged the liner out, and maybe used a lighter matte grey. But I don’t think I have a lighter matte grey, so this is what you get. 
Also, I really need to find or make a screencap of Pam in that scene where she’s clearly applying a NARS lipstick – because I *swear* it looks more pink to me, closer to Damned. It also seems a bit glossy, not exactly matte. But NARS says it’s Cruella, so they should know. Anyway, here’s the look. (I’ll post my Pam-inspired outfit later.)

Swatch Sunday, 6/26/11: Peachy Keen
I am really into peach right now, for some reason. It’s weird, because I used to really not like it, and now I kind of love it? Anyway. You’ve probably seen swatches of Sleek’s Paraguaya palette already – but I haven’t come across the blush and lipgloss from the Avoir la Peche set, so here are swatches of those. Plus peach-y, dreamsicle-y nails from Wet n’ Wild’s summer collection.

Swatch Sunday, 6/19/11: Alison Raffaele Lipskins in Sing
Well, I did spend some time getting caught up on tweets (twats?) and commenting on posts and shit, but now all my attention is on Ice Loves Coco, no lie, so I’m doing this post during the commercial breaks. I meant to do more swatches (like some Sleek swatches that maybe haven’t been done elsewhere), but, I’m doing this during commercials, and going to bed right after, so you get one swatch. Yep. Sorry.
I’m pretty much in love with Lipskins. I’ve got Sing and Laugh, and I’ve got my eyes on Breathe. I don’t know if any other shades were made, but if they were, they’re going on my wishlist.
For comparison, here are my bare lips, and Laugh.
FOTN/Homage: Lotus Eater (6/13/11)
For some reason, there’s a mental link for me between opium smokers and the Lotus-Eaters from the Odyssey, even though the plants are two separate plants, whatever. This is an attempt at another of Pixie_a_la_mode’s badass looks, specifically, this one: Opium Smoker. I have neither Bleeding Poppy nor Old Fashioned Fascism, so even though this look is one of the first ones I stuck on my “looks to copy” tumblr, I’ve been hesitant to recreate it, because I suck at finding matching shades in my stash when I don’t have the exact thing used in the original look. (Or at least I tell myself I suck at it, and so I don’t even try. My therapist would be so proud of me recognizing that negative thought, and that’s good for me, but honestly I’d be a smidge happier if she could be proud while handing over some Bleeding Poppy and Old Fashioned Fascism. Only half kidding.) So let’s see how I did – I think it’s way prettier than I was expecting to be able to pull off, but the colors are rather different than I expected (and than Pixie used, but that’s okay, right? she was my inspiration, so I can hit a bit off the mark).

FOTN: Green Phantasm (6/11/11)
Went over to Stephen and Erin’s last night, for a cook-out, even though it was kind of raining. But they made it happen anyway, and fed the shit out of us. And Erin’s brother, Josh, was in town, and graciously went to the store to get more veggie burgers, after the first were lost to a grilling-related tragedy (they got torched, accidentally). I had a fantastic time! So much fun – and met some cool new people that I’ll be playing D&D with starting next Saturday I think. (Greg’s going to DM – I am sooooo excited to be back in a game.) Anyhoodles – makeup from last night was a combo that’s been languishing in my makeup purse, waiting for me to find time to put it on.

FOTN: Posies & Weeds (6/4/11)
So, I wanted to go to this dubstep dance party. I don’t really dance in non-bellydance settings, but I like dubstep and wanted to see some local-ish djs do their thing, and I was really hoping I’d see some people who can throw down to dubstep. And maybe even dance myself, if I was so moved. So, light makeup that I didn’t have to worry about sweating off was the way to go. Sadly, I didn’t hear any dubstep, just late 80s/early 90s rap – not that I hate it, but I was *really* looking forward to dubstep, so it was disappointing. And a whole lot of people dancing awkwardly. Some of them were letting loose, and I have to respect that, but most of them were dancing in that “I kind of want to dance, but not really” awkward way where they hold back so they don’t look uncool, but then end up looking…it was kind of bad. I felt bad for them. (Which is really kind of shitty of me, but…it was super awkward. It just looked like they were twitching uncomfortably. I mean, at least have fun! You know? If you can’t relax enough and have fun with it, then come sit and drink with me, right.) ANYWAY! Makeup. Super simple, super cute, I think. (I left some of the close-ups super large, so you could see the peacock herl extensions in their true glory. Like velvet. Ugh, I love them. And need to put TONS more in.)

TiLT: the sick edition
I’ve got some bug, and I’ve been wiped out for two days. I think I’ve been awake for maybe a total of four hours today, and I plan to go back to bed any minute now, so….yeah. Five hours awake, maybe. So I’m keeping this brief. Today I am so, so, so grateful for:
-GREG – he’s awesome
-Skeeter and Chalupa snuggling with me
-not vomiting
-having a job that gives me sick leave
-and sleeping
FOTN: Leopard Love (6/3/11)
I wore this look to a show at the Pinhook, with a sweet (new-ish) leopard print tube dress I got. That dress is damn comfortable, and cute. I love it. Anyway, here’s the makeup I did – wanted to try out Too Faced’s Leopard Love compact, so I did.
