Let’s not discuss how I know this,

November 20, 2011 at 2:49 pm (blather, laugh, read)

but let’s just say there are TONS of Twilight parodies available for the Kindle, and leave it at that. I think my favorite, based solely on the name, are the Twishite series, and The Day I Finger F***** Robert Pattinson.

Yeah, I’m twelve. Hardy har.

Sick like a little baby

November 18, 2011 at 2:57 pm (bitch, blather, heal)

UGH. So, I woke up this morning with a rash on the back of my neck that hadn’t been there last night. Decided that, coupled with my ongoing “seasonal allergy” symptoms (which are pretty gnarly and flu-like sometimes), and my more recent couple days of nausea and, ahem, “stomach upset,” it was probably time to go see a doctor. So I did. Because I’d hate to be sick over Thanksgiving, especially if it ended up I needed antibiotics and could’ve started them today, you know? They always take a couple days to kick in and make me feel better, so I figured better today than Thanksgiving. Especially given the gnarly throat infection I had a couple Winters ago (was it last Winter? that seems too recent…) that I let go until I seriously thought I was dying. And then the week of waiting to start feeling better was hell.

Anyway. I’m not feeling that bad at all – just really, really, really exhausted and rundown for the most part, today. My joints ache, my nausea’s put in brief appearances, but it’s mainly just extreme tiredness. My doctor thinks it’s already been around for about three days, and so should finish its course in the next three to four, so that’s good news. I’m just unwarrantedly ill about the rash – apparently it’s something adults get rarely, but kids get “all the time” with viruses, so I feel childish, even though it’s not my own fault. Whatever.

All of this is by way of saying: Sorry I’m still not caught up on all y’all’s posts and commenting on blogs, and replying to comments on *this* blog, and also I may not post for a couple more days. While I sleep the fuck out of some sleep, and drink lots of water. It could be WAY worse though, on so many scales (a pretty badass woman I know just got diagnosed with Rocky Mountain, and that’s shit; another badass woman’s having serious problems that were caused by *her* bout with Rocky Mountain; another badass woman I know has Lyme’s, and she’s fucking hardcore and doesn’t complain, but it seems pretty brutal; I know several people battling with cancer at the moment, to varying degrees of success; and the poor soul I most likely caught this bug from had violent vomiting and diarrhea) – so all in all, no complaints here. Just a smidge of petulant whining about this rash, that seems to be spreading. But really, I’m fine. Just tired. And now to drink a shitload of water, hit up the vitamin C and cortisone cream again, and go back to bed. See y’all when I’m back up to snuff, and hope you’re all well and healthy and happy and joyous and all that hippy stuff. <3

(PS – what the fuck IS it with badass women getting sick with the heavy hitters – Rocky Mountain, Lyme’s, cancer, neuromuscular shit? DO NOT LIKE. Dear Universe, once is an occurrence, twice is maybe a weird synchronicity, but the vast numbers of badass women I know with serious health problems? NOT COOL. Quit it or get it. I may not be religious, but I can’t quite believe death is the finite end – and I will bitch your ass out if this shit continues to be a pattern. Dear my badass women with serious health problems, I LOVE YOU! Wishing you well, and sending you as much healing thoughts as I can. Take care of yourselves as best you can, because, well, I need y’all. Okay?)

TiLT!: 11/17/11

November 17, 2011 at 10:36 am (blather, boggle, celebrate, Chalupa, drink, eat, hang out, listen, love, make, pets, read, share, sing praises, Skeeter, squee, TiLT)

-international newspaper subscriptions on my Kindle
-3:15pm Milk Tea (genius! and delicious!)
-finally checking out LiMing’s Global Market, and it is AMAZING – the meat substitutes are INCREDIBLE, the prices are great, holy shit, love it, love it, love it
-the weather today: gloomy, overcast, rainy, the right amount of chilly – just perfect for me
-having Goddess Leonie respond to a comment I made on her facebook page, and Sybil Buck comment on this blog – pretty much in fangrrl heaven right now, lots of mental squee-ing
-making KICKASS General Tso’s tofu last night with puffed tofu and – Greg’s new favorite, and I think mine, too – braised gluten; seriously, it is fucking awesome – I’ll have to do a post on it, so y’all vegetarian readers can see the gloriousness
-walking past a campus building on my lunch break, and hearing an orchestra practice (lovely!)
-waking up this morning with Chalupa sitting on my butt and Skeeter on my feet (they rarely snuggle *me*, they usually go straight for Greg, so I’ve been enjoying the cat-love lately; AND – Skeeter’s been getting under the covers to snuggle with me, even! he NEVER does that for me)
-just generally being in a glorious, joyous, thankful mood today – I’m enjoying the fuck out of it while it lasts, I am so happy and gleeful it’s almost (almost!) sickening
-this article, from the Guardian, about why happy people have a “rose-tinted” outlook
-looking forward to Thanksgiving with friends and loved ones :)
-still working on top secret crafty projects for others

ACK – how could I forget these uber lovely and luminous and wise and light-filled and just fucking RIGHT-ON words from my gorgeous friend Kimmie (who I hope doesn’t mind me posting them here, but I’m figuring not, since I reposted them on fb and she was cool with it; reblogging is just like sharing on fb, right? o.O):
“OK, so, this is what’s up. We’re all going to die, right? And there’s no money after that, no matter what you believe happens to you when you die. So what’s money good for? Its a symbol of an energy exchange that takes place between people. We are all living on the planet, trying to make it, trying to love each other. Money is something that comes and goes, in and out, like the tide. It gets redistributed again and again. Its not something that belongs to any one person or people. Its something we use to help take care of each other while we’re still breathing. When I’m in need, those I love are in a place to help me. When they’re in need, I am in a place to help them. Its all the same money. Necessary in our world today, yes. But only as a means to spread love and exchange energy with each other. When you give of yourself, no matter what the means or method, you are making room and opening yourself up to receive. When you receive, you are filling yourself up to give. Fill what is empty, and empty what is full. Take what you need today so that you can give it back to the next person, and do so with grace, gratitude, and love. And know that when you are able to give, it is in fact a gift. :)

SO FUCKING BRILLIANT, am I right? She’s amazing. I love her.

Pretty sure this part:

“(Change wifi to wi-fi)Even their own site doesn’t use the word “luxury” until the second paragraph of the About Us page. If it’s not part of their value proposition,it doesn’t need to be part of our pub text.”

Wasn’t meant to be published publicly. Looks like an editor’s comments to a subordinate. And yet, there it is, on the page for all to see. Ouch.

Hairdoings

November 14, 2011 at 11:19 am (blather, hair, preen)

Obviously, I’ve dyed my hair again. I used L’Oreal’s Sublime Mousse in 41 Iced Dark Brown – and it looks black, so far, until the light hits it, and then some of it looks brown. I like it. I like darker colors for Winter. I’m already lusting after pastel hair again, no surprise, but I figure I’ll stick with dark for a while and get my kicks through extensions and shit. Before I run off and color strip this fucker again and risk frying it. :D Here it is, after an EXTREMELY RARE OCCURRENCE: after washing it, I blow-dried it, and then flat-ironed it. I NEVER blow-dry. I am so impatient. So this is a rare moment. And it came out, uh, flat. I don’t know what I was expecting. Although the next day it was pretty nice: straight, but not too flat.

I just kind of got a bug up my ass either the 6th (Sunday) or the 8th (Tuesday) and ran out and got the dye and dyed it that night. That’s kind of how it happens with me, huh. I float haircolor ideas until finally I get a bug up my ass and then shit gets done RIGHT THEN. No patience. Hee.
