Heads up, y’all

I’ve decided it’s not really…helpful, necessary, something…to keep my three blogs separate any longer. I separated them initially so readers who weren’t necessarily interested in more than one of them would be spared the posts they didn’t care so much about. But it’s been really hard to post to all three – I have plenty to post on all three, but I find that after working on a couple posts for one blog, and scheduling them, I don’t have the energy to work on the others the way I want to. Woo-woo and GYaE! have particularly gotten the shaft.

And the thing is, they’re all important to me, and they’re all part of who I am. So, I’ve decided to consolidate them, and sooner rather than later. (Although not immediately.) In real life, I try to edit myself as little as possible, to present myself as fully and honestly as I can. Because I don’t want anyone who wouldn’t actually like me, or that I wouldn’t actually like, to be friends with me, and then be made uncomfortable or freak out when, say, I’m wearing a tank and raise my arm, and, “Ooooooh! You don’t shave! Uhhhh…..” Yeah, no, I don’t always. It’s a little bit political, a little bit personal aesthetics, and a little bit lazy. For one example. I try to be pretty open and honest about myself and everything that entails from the get-go – it saves everyone (especially myself) a lot of hassle and upset in the long run. So, recently, I’ve been thinking about the separate blogs, and why I keep them separate, as blogs. I certainly don’t keep those topics separate in myself, or in my life – they coexist, they’re a good part of who I am. So I’m going to consolidate them. Soonish. Not immediately, but soonish. And while I’m not going to take the time right now to merge posts – I’ve got something more pressing to do – my next post (the “something more pressing”) is going to be more something you would’ve seen on GYaE! before, that I wouldn’t have necessarily posted here. But since I’m consolidating…doesn’t seem to make any sense to write it up on GYaE! right now, only to transfer it over later. So there you are.

-Patton Oswalt
-Ron White
-Eddie Izzard
-George Carlin
(seeing a theme here? ;) )
-good moods, less stress, better health (for me AND my friends – and my friends’ improving health/moods/whathaveyou makes me *especially* happy)
-my rainbow hair
-thinking about working out a style direction for myself for the year, like Gala does – maybe the last 3/4 of 2012 will be my Year of Cohesive Style-Having. Or….maybe I’ll continue to be a magpie. Decisions, decisions.
-gaming with friends!
-my lovely, silly, COMFY (like PJs!) Alienskin Hippie Hoodie
-new crafty projects (right now? working out the pattern for a hat for a certain someone. or maybe i should say, a certain someone’s husband. ahem. :) apparently i misplaced the notes i wrote the second time i knit up that hat, and decided having a written pattern would be nice. so i get to revisit what i did when i made mine: grab Greg’s and get to stitch-counting. it’s kind of fun, actually.)
-donuts
-Greg and our kitties and our friends and family :D

Hair doings!

So, a couple days after I went to Moshi Moshi for a facial and eyebrow wax from Tara (and holy shit, Eminence’s Acai Moisturizer smells like HEAVEN!) – actually, the day after, maybe? or two days later? anyhoodle! – I went back, so Genius Jess could cut my hair. I love her! I mean, not just as a friend (which she is! because she’s rad!) but also as a stylist. I love being able to go in and say, “Eh, I don’t know, I’m just not feeling it, it needs a little something. And the bangs are killing me.” And she works MAGIC. Magic, I tell you! My “short” has grown out quite a bit, so she layered it into the rest of my hair, so it won’t look too mullet-y now, nor while it grows out some more; and put in lots of layers to emphasize my natural wave/curls; and dealt with the bangs, and very cutely, too. And my hair’s more naturally wavy – but with a diffuser? CURLS, GLORIOUS CURLS! Pretty sweet!

Dammit, Janet, I love you! (NTMS RHPS showcase)

For this week’s NTMS showcase, which is Rocky Horror Picture Show-themed, I decided to go with Janet’s makeup for most of the movie, which is pretty subtle and toned-down. Getting a good, subtle, beautiful, “natural,” “no makeup” makeup look is much harder for me (and I use way more product) than something like Frank’s makeup, or the masks at the end, which I’d basically color-block out and fill in. So, I thought I’d go for the challenge, even if it wasn’t as visually exciting as the other RHPS options. (Also, Riff Raff is my absolute favorite character, and I wasn’t sure how to successfully interpret/communicate/transform him into a makeup look on myself, so. Janet it was.)
